What is the Essence Festival?
 

The Essence Music Festival, known as the "Party with a Purpose", is one of the nation's largest annual African-American events and gathering of musical talent in the world.

This multigenerational Festival offers high-powered concerts by night and free Empowerment Seminars during the day.

The nightly concerts present Festival goers with the opportunity to dance and sing along with the biggest names in entertainment, rhythm and blues, jazz, classic soul, hip-hop and neosoul, within the Louisiana Superdome.

Bourbon Street and other famous locations host some of the biggest events of the weekend and don't forget - the after parties last till the dawn!

Where does the action take place?
 
The concerts are held in the newly rebuilt Louisiana Superdome! The Empowerment Seminars are held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

Parties and the huge social scene take place in and around the French Quarters, Bourbon Street and Canal Street.   Hotels booked through WhatsPoppinCentral.com are located on Canal Street so you'll be close to the action.
